2011 Air Quality Management Conference
The Lake Michigan States Section of the Air & Waste Management Association is pleased to once again offer the Midwest’s most comprehensive annual program on air quality management issues. The LMSS’s Air Quality Management conference has become a tradition in the region - bringing together environmental professionals from industry, government, environmental services and the legal community to learn about the hottest issues and most important developments in this rapidly evolving field. Are you up-to-date on the latest GHG issues? Pretty soon, you’ll be needing a lot of new information. Plan on joining us at this year’s Annual Air Conference being held at the Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn.

A reception will be held immediately following the conference.

Companies that supply products and services for environmental management will have exhibits on display at the conference. There are also sponsorship opportunities available. For information on exhibiting or sponsorship, please contact  .

We also offer an Air Primer Class the evening before. Online registration is now open; please click here.

CLIMATE CHANGE FINANCIAL DISCLOSURES WORKSHOP
April 28, 2011 * Chicago, IL

The SEC, ASTM standards, shareholders, and the public have increasingly demanded and even required full disclosure of financial ramifications of climate change and related policies and regulations. A new ASTM standard articulates specific criteria for businesses. However, climate change also offers financial opportunities as well as risks for many companies, especially those in the energy sector or with high energy demands. The workshop addresses these and other emerging requirements, identifies benchmarking and best practices, and provides an array of opportunities as well.  Join us in Chicago for a one day workshop on Climate Change Financial Disclosures.

Locks and Fishes: The Odd Saga of the Chicago
Waterway and the Asian Carp.
Luncheon at the Union League Club

The Asian carp has dominated our headlines like no other invasive species.  David Rieser, a partner with McGuireWoods LLP, has been thoroughly involved with these issues since January of 2010, representing a coalition of business trade associations dedicated to preserving the Chicago waterway and the important economic engine it has always been.   Mr. Rieser will discuss the background of the waterway and its importance to the area, the risks presented by the Asian carp and the role played by the DNA findings in stirring the controversy.  While many people have heard about the controversy, this presentation is intended to provide a deeper understanding of the background and facts. The presentation will address a variety of technical and legal aspects and is directed at business and professional people who are interested in the issue.

  • DATE:  Wednesday, March 16, 2011
  • TIME:  11:30 a.m.
  • LOCATION:  Union League Club, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL
  • COST:  The cost to attend for non-Union League Club members is $50 per person which includes lunch and any presentation handouts.
  • RSVP:  Online registration is open now.  Union League Club members should contact the ULC directly to make their reservations.
  • CLEs/PDHs:  Attendees are eligible to receive 0.5 hours of credit toward CLEs or PDHs.
